Chicago Eye Consultants was established to create the most modern and caring eye care center in the region over 25 years ago.  The practice exists with the philosophy of providing outstanding patient care using the latest advanced technology for treatment.  Today, Chicago Eye Consultants continues to expand with expert surgeons providing a remarkable patient experience and superior outcomes for both medical and surgical care. We value the partnerships we have established with our referral community and the trust they have placed in our providers and clinical team.

Ronald Weiss, MD

Specialties: Cataracts, Advanced Technology Lenses, Glaucoma, and Cornea Care

Dr. Ronald S. Weiss is a board-certified ophthalmologist and founder of Chicago Eye Consultants. He is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in cataracts, diabetic eye care, glaucoma, and other medical and surgical eye disorders. His expertise is cataract surgery.  As one of the busiest cataract surgeons in the Chicagoland area, Dr. Weiss performs complicated cataract surgeries, often referred by other ophthalmologists, and incorporates the latest technology and premium implants on qualified candidates.   

Dr. Weiss received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and his medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago and is a proud member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has an academic appointment at Rush University Medical School where he teaches and performs surgery with the ophthalmology residents.  Dr. Weiss is also Chairman of Ophthalmology at MacNeal Hospital.  Dr. Weiss has been with the practice since the early 90's.  

Wendewessen Amde, MD

Specialties: Diseases of the Retina and Vitreous

Dr. Amde specializes in the management of medical and surgical diseases of the vitreous and retina. His expertise includes the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, simple and complex retinal detachment repair, surgical removal of epiretinal membranes, and the surgical management of complex trauma cases. Dr. Amde also takes special interest in the diagnosis, and medical and surgical management of eye inflammations and uveitis. 

Dr. Amde is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, The New York State Ophthalmological Society, and the American Medical Association. He completed his undergraduate education at the UCLA School of Medicine where he graduated with distinction as AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor) Society. He then continued to complete his residency at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and his fellowship at the world renowned Kresge Eye Institute. Dr. Amde is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Quraishi is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing comprehensive eye care and Botox services with expertise in cataract surgery. She specializes in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, premium astigmatism and multifocal correcting intraocular lenses, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and blepharoplasty.

Dr. Quraishi graduated summa cum laude from the Honors Program at Loyola University prior to matriculation at Northwestern University, where she obtained her Doctorate of Medicine. She completed post-graduate medical education, internal medicine, and ophthalmology residency training at Louis Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Henry Ford Health systems respectively.

Emily Jacobs, MD

Specialties: Cataracts, Advanced Technology Lenses, and Cornea Care

Dr. Jacobs is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist who completed a fellowship in cornea, refractive surgery and external disease at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, one of the country's most renowned eye hospitals. Dr. Jacobs received extensive training in complex cataract surgery, intraocular lens (IOL) surgery, corneal transplantation, refractive surgery and more. She is skilled in laser assisted cataract surgery and advanced technology intraocular lens implants, including Toric (astigmatism-correcting,) Multifocal and Extended Depth of Focus lenses and has a special interest in treating dry eye disease.

Dr. Jacobs earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, where she graduated cum laude and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she served as chief resident.

Dr. Jacobs has been published in multiple, respected, peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national conferences. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Most importantly, she is a dedicated and caring physician and believes in patient-centered care. In her spare time, Dr. Jacobs enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, exercising, and spending time with her family and friends.
